Social Rehabilitation Assistance : Contents

Application process

Clients must complete the Social Rehabilitation Assistance application form and have the relevant section of the form completed by the social rehabilitation provider.

The social rehabilitation provider must verify that the client is resident in a social rehabilitation programme.

Clients cannot receive Social Rehabilitation Assistance as well as Accommodation Supplement, Disability Allowance, Special Benefit or Temporary Additional Support. Clients must choose to have their Accommodation Supplement, Disability Allowance, Special Benefit or Temporary Additional Support stopped if they are to be granted Social Rehabilitation Assistance.

Once a fully completed application form has been received, Social Rehabilitation Assistance is paid direct to the social rehabilitation provider via the miscellaneous subsidy screen in SWIFTT.

The grant date is either:

  • 1 July 2003 or
  • the date their main benefit commenced or
  • the date the client entered the social rehabilitation programme

whichever is the later.

When a fully completed application for Social Rehabilitation Assistance is received after the client has left the social rehabilitation programme, grant Social Rehabilitation Assistance from the date of entry, to date of exit, and pay arrears directly to the social rehabilitation provider.
