Maximum rate of payment and conditions for Emergency Benefit
Generally, the equivalent benefit establishes the maximum rate of benefit.
The maximum rate of the equivalent benefit cannot be equal to New Zealand Superannuation or Veteran's Pension.
The equivalent benefit provides guidelines for the conditions attached to a grant of Emergency Benefit. The conditions will generally align to the obligations that apply to the equivalent benefit.
Note identifying an equivalent benefit does not mean a person is automatically eligible for an Emergency Benefit. The client's circumstances must still be considered to justify payment.
