Applying for Jobseeker Support after finishing employment
When a client applies for Jobseeker Support after ceasing employment, the length of time that they have been working will affect the date that their Jobseeker Support can commence.
In employment less than 26 weeks
No stand-down applies when a client applies for benefit because they have finished employment within 26 weeks of their previous benefit stopping.
Their Jobseeker Support can commence from the entitlement date, which is the day after their employment ceased or the application date of benefit, whichever is the later.
Note some payments a client gets when they finish work affect the date their employment ceased.
For more information see:
In employment 26 weeks or more
If the client finishes employment 26 weeks or more after their previous benefit stopped, the usual commencement date and initial stand-down rules apply.
