Other types of assessment

Your client may provide another type of assessment that satisfies you that the client is permanently and severely restricted in their ability to work.

One assessment may not be sufficient to establish entitlement to Supported Living Payment. Some assessments are most useful to establish severity. You may need to use other assessments or ask your client for information to establish their diagnosis. For more information see:

If the information you have confirms that your client meets the criteria for Supported Living Payment, you can consider granting Supported Living Payment. You will need to link your client's benefit record to the designated doctor named "Existing Assessments - Other" in the SDOCS screen in SWIFTT.

If you are not satisfied by the information provided that your client meets the medical criteria for Supported Living Payment, refer to your Regional Health Advisor or Regional Disability Advisor [no link find out why] for advice.

For more information see:

Permanent means the health condition, injury or disability your client has is expected to continue for at least 2 years. Your client's health condition, injury or disability is also considered permanent when they have been diagnosed with a terminal illness (where your client is not expected to live for more than 2 years).

Severely means that your client cannot regularly work 15 hours or more per week in open employment.
