Income Related Rent Subsidy : Contents
Clients paying market rent as Income Related Rent not currently calculated
A client may be paying the market rent rate for a property because they:
- have not applied for Income Related Rent or have chosen not to access it or
- had been paying rent based on a rate of Income Related Rent but subsequently the Ministry of Social Development has been unable to calculate a new rate because the client has not provided all the information it required
In these situations:
- Kāinga Ora must charge the market rent rate for the property or
- community housing providers may set the rent themselves but it must not be higher than the market rent rate for the property
Note if the client has not had a rate of Income Related Rent calculated, the housing provider cannot be paid an Income Related Rent Subsidy.
