Factors to consider when backdating

When considering whether to backdate an Income Related Rent, consider whether the reason provided:

• was unforeseen, out-of-the ordinary and could not be planned for
• was beyond the client's control or
• sets the client apart from others in a similar situation

Examples include (but are not limited to):

• unforeseen hospitalisation
• seriously sick or injured
• bereavement of immediate family
• emergency or adverse event
• victim of violent crime (including family violence)
