In hospital for more than 30 days
Single applicant
Where a single applicant is in hospital for longer than 30 days without someone to act on their behalf, they will not be referred to any social housing providers.
The client's application may be reinstated following a review of their housing need upon discharge from hospital if it is within eight weeks of their removal from the register. Otherwise they will need to make a new application for social housing.
Sole parent
If a sole parent is in hospital longer than 30 days without someone to act on their behalf, they will not be referred to any social housing providers.
However, their application may be reinstated following a review of their housing need upon discharge from hospital if it is within eight weeks of their removal from the register. Otherwise they will need to make a new application for social housing.
Joint applicant
In the case of a joint application, if the client in hospital is available to be referred or has someone to act on their behalf, the client can remain on the register and be referred to housing providers. Their circumstances will be reviewed upon discharge to confirm their housing need or housing needs (requirements).
