Moving between countries

Travelling

If clients are entitled to payment overseas of New Zealand Superannuation or Veteran's Pension, they can get this payment while travelling to, in or between countries.

Residing

If clients are residing in a non-agreement country and want to travel in or reside in other non-agreement countries, they can continue to be paid New Zealand Superannuation or Veterans Pension at the same rate.

Some agreements allow clients to continue to be paid if they are absent from the agreement countries for 26 weeks or less (Canada, Denmark, Ireland, the Netherlands, Australia).

However, if clients are residing in an agreement country and want to travel or reside in a non-agreement country for more than 26 weeks, they will generally not be entitled to payment of New Zealand Superannuation or Veteran's Pension from the date they leave the agreement country.

If a client is residing in one agreement country, then moves to reside in a second agreement country they will need to apply for payment under the second country's agreement.

Clients will generally not be entitled to payment of New Zealand Superannuation or Veteran's Pension from the date they leave the first agreement country.
