Getting a main benefit
To qualify for Relocate for Work Support the client must be getting one of the following main benefits:
- Emergency Benefit
- Emergency Maintenance Allowance
- Jobseeker Support
- Sole Parent Support
- Supported Living Payment
- Youth Payment
- Young Parent Payment
Note this includes partners getting an apportioned amount of one of the above main benefits.
Under 18-year-olds
Clients under 18 years old who get a main benefit do not qualify for Relocate for Work Support because they are not of working age. For example, a 17-year-old getting Youth Payment will not qualify. However, if that client continues to get Youth Payment when they turn 18 years old, they can get Relocate for Work Support if they meet all other qualifications.
Effect of an initial stand-down or non-entitlement period
Clients do not qualify for Relocate for Work Support while subject to an initial stand-down or non-entitlement period because they are not getting a main benefit. However, a client who is subject to a 13-week non-entitlement period (e.g. voluntary unemployment) can qualify if they are:
- getting a provisional benefit, and
- participating satisfactorily in an approved recompliance activity
Residency
There are no specific residency criteria for Relocate for Work Support as clients must meet residency criteria to qualify for a main benefit.
