Qualifications

To qualify for Relocate for Work Support the client must:

• be getting a main benefit and
• be of working age and
• be ordinarily resident and present in New Zealand when applying and
• meet a cash assets test and
• be at risk of long-term benefit receipt and
• have accepted a job offer that meets the job offer criteria and
• have been unable to get a suitable and sustainable job locally and
• have obtained adequate accommodation in the location they are moving to and
• not have moved for the job offer before applying and
• agree to cancel their main benefit from their job start date and
• not have received other assistance for a same or similar purpose for the same job offer and
• not have received $5k to Work in the last 52 weeks

Note clients must provide evidence they meet some of the above qualifications.

Transition to Work

If the client has received Transition to Work - Job Placement for relocation costs for the same job offer, they do not qualify for Relocate for Work Support. However, if the client has received Transition to Work for other work-related costs (e.g. equipment or clothing), they can still get Relocate for Work Support.

New Zealand Seasonal Work Scheme

If the client has received a New Zealand Seasonal Work Scheme incentive payment for the same job offer, they do not qualify for Relocate for Work Support.

Housing Support Products

A client who gets for Relocate for Work Support can also get Housing Support Products if they qualify. However, this would only cover the costs over and above the amount they got through Relocate for Work Support.
