Travel
Every client who qualifies for Relocate for Work Support will get a payment from the travel category to relocate themselves and their immediate family (if any) to their new location.
The amount the client can get is based on who is relocating with them and their method of travel. It is not affected by how far they are travelling.
Clients can get a payment for:
- land travel (such as bus, train, or private vehicle) or
- air or sea travel (such as flights or ferry)
Note clients cannot get a payment from both travel categories, even if they have mixed methods of travel.
Mixed methods of travel
If a client is using mixed methods of travel, they must be paid for the method of travel with the higher payment rate. For example, a client who is driving and travelling by ferry will get the "air or sea travel" rate instead of the "land travel" rate.
This includes when a client relocates using a different method of travel than members of their immediate family. For example, a client decides to fly, and their partner and children will drive. The client will get the "air or sea travel" rate instead of the "land travel" rate.
