Current client debt
Current client debt is debt that is being repaid by clients who are currently receiving a main benefit. The debt is usually where the client has received:
- an Advance Payment of Benefit
- a recoverable Special Needs Grant
- Housing Support Products or
- an overpayment of benefit entitlement
Current client debts are held in the client's SWIFTT record on SDBTI screen.
When a client's benefit is cancelled their debt is transferred to TRACE system and is administered by Client Support - Debt Management. Debt on TRACE is termed non-current debt (NCD).
Clients with MyMSD are able to view their current debt balances and repayments online.
Debt transfers between SWIFTT and TRACE, depending on the status of a client's benefit, until the debt is repaid in full or it is decided the debt is non-recoverable.
