Changes and reviews

A client must advise the Ministry of Social Development of any changes in their circumstances that may affect their entitlement or rate of benefit payable.

You may also review a benefit at any time to ensure that the client still meets the qualifications and is receiving the correct rate of payment.

When there has been a change to the client's benefit entitlement, and as a result of this change the amount of benefit contribution has increased or decreased, the Residential Subsidy Unit must give written advice of the new amount of benefit contribution and the effective date of change to:

  • the client
  • the service provider (if applicable) and
  • the Ministry of Health

Information given to the Ministry of Health should provide details of the change and the relevant dates only. Details of the client's financial affairs are confidential and must be discussed with the client or their agent only.
