Refunds and backdating a rate of Income Related Rent during a review
Income Related Rent is not a payment or a benefit; it is a calculated rate of subsidised rent.
Where a decision has been made to backdate the rate of Income Related Rent a refund needs to be issued.
The refund to the client represents the same amount of money that would have been paid as an Income Related Rent Subsidy to the housing provider had the correct rate of Income Related Rent been calculated for the earlier period in the first place.
