Removal from the register
Clients are removed from the register when:
- they are no longer eligible to be allocated social housing
- their need for housing or their housing requirements cannot be confirmed
- they have requested to be removed (including grandparented clients) or
- they have declined an offer of a suitable property without a good and sufficient reason
Client makes contact within 8 weeks
Some clients removed from the register can have their applications reinstated if they make contact and circumstances can be confirmed within 8 weeks of being removed, or when the client requested to be removed and requests their application be reinstated.
If a grandparented client requests to be removed, their social housing application cannot be reinstated on the register but they can re-apply for social housing.
Note clients who make contact within 8 weeks who are found not to have a good and sufficient reason for declining a property will not have their social housing application reinstated. They will need to re-apply for social housing to determine they have a persistent housing need that is serious or severe.
Client makes contact after 8 weeks
Clients who make contact after 8 weeks of their application being removed from the register will need to make a new application for social housing.
