Donating a kidney or liver tissue
Generally, clients receiving a main benefit, who are donating a kidney or liver tissue, will still meet the qualifications for benefit and can continue to receive it.
However, if the client has a change of circumstances that prevents continued entitlement to their current benefit, they may still require income and childcare assistance during their recovery time. Consider transferring the client to Emergency Benefit.
Clients receiving Jobseeker Support, Sole Parent Support or Supported Living Payment due to a health condition, injury or disability may continue to receive their current benefit.
Client no longer entitled to benefit
A client receiving Supported Living Payment - caring for a person, cannot receive the Supported Living Payment while recovering from surgery. The client should be transferred to Emergency Benefit following the donation of a kidney or liver tissue.
No hardship test
No hardship test applies if a client donates a kidney or liver tissue, while they are receiving Emergency Benefit.
