Housing provider requests needs (requirements) assessment

When a social housing provider needs to transfer a tenant and a change in housing requirements is identified, the housing provider may request MSD complete a housing needs assessment (for example, the client may require an extra bedroom).

Note the housing requirements assessment is not a full assessment of eligibility. It is a review limited to a current social housing tenant's housing requirements (including bedroom allocation) based on the number of household members and any modifications that are required.

The outcome of this review will give the housing provider confirmation of the client's housing needs and they will take this information into account when allocating a property to the client.

A client can apply for a Review of Decision when they have received formal notification of the outcome of the review of their housing needs (property requirements), and they do not agree with it.

For example, when the client has asked to move to a property with more bedrooms and we have determined there is no change in the clients housing needs.
