Tenancy reviews : Contents

Introduction

Tenancy reviews check whether tenants still qualify for social housing and whether the property they are in still meets their needs.

Tenancy reviews were paused in March 2020 due to COVID-19, however this pause has been lifted from 25 March 2024.

Tenancy reviews are usually done every 3 years or when a tenant has a change in circumstances.

Outcome of reviews

If the tenant still qualifies for social housing, and their property meets their needs, they can stay in their current housing.

If their housing needs have changed, the social housing provider may be able to find the tenant another property that meets their needs.

If the tenant no longer qualifies for social housing, MSD can discuss what products and services are available to help them move into private housing. See:

Note some tenants are exempt from the 3 yearly tenancy review.
