Already in employment - Work and Income not advised

In some situations, a client may be working more than 15 hours a week and have not informed Work and Income prior to starting the job. You need to consider whether the client still meets the qualifications for the Supported Living Payment.

Client has recently started working

In many cases, the client may have just started work or has a job offer that starts prior to the time of their appointment with Work and Income. Discuss the option of a Sustainable Employment Trial with them.

If you agree to a Sustainable Employment Trial in these circumstances, the start date of the Sustainable Employment Trial is the date you and the client agree to the Sustainable Employment Trial. Do not backdate the start date to the date the client started employment

Long delay in informing Work and Income

There may be cases where a client informs Work and Income a considerable time after starting employment. These situations need to be treated on a case-by-case basis. If they have been regularly working over 15 hours you will need to check the client continues to meet the qualifications for the Supported Living Payment. Should you need help in making this decision contact Helpline.
